In 2004 decades of hostilities between Libya and Israel culminated in a Libyan attack with chemical weapons, killing thousands of Israelis. In retaliation Israel unleashed its nuclear arsenal, destroying half of Libya's cities and killing millions of Libyans. Ten minutes after the war's start the country of Libya had effectively ceased to exist.
UN peace forces moved into the area but all they could do was evacuating the surviving Libyans from the nuclear wasteland that used to be their home. The Libyan people was scattered over Africa and the Middle East. Hundreds of thousands would later die of radiation poisoning.
