[edit] History

Asamando was founded in 2030 when the sasabonsam (a local ghoul variant) of Africa joined together around the Black Volta River. Under the leadership of Queen Thema Laula, the ghouls seized the local villages (infecting or consuming their inhabitants) and proceeded to build a new nation.

Laula has remained in power ever since, the longest-tenured leader in Africa. During her forty-two years as monarch, she has opened her nation to megacorporate interests, exchanging Asamando's diamonds, gold, and other minerals for corporate backing. Realising that the UN and the wider world will only accept ghouls as sentient if they do not need to subsist on metahuman flesh, Laula has also offered incentives for the first corporation to provide a synthetic food source for ghouls.

The Asante Nation invaded Asamando in 2064-65, but were repelled.

[edit] Politics

Asamando is the only ghoul state in the Sixth World. While it is not recognised as an official state by the UN, it is recognised by the Corporate Court and some corporations - especially DeBeers-Omnitech.

All citizens are required to enlist in the armed forces for two years upon reaching adulthood. As a result, Asamando not only has a sizeable army, but its entire population is capable of taking up arms to protect their homeland, discouraging foreign invasion.

[edit] Geography

Asamando's terrain is dominated by savannahs and forests. While it is surrounded by the Gold and Ivory Coast Tribal Lands, its borders are contested with its more stable neighbours, including the Asante Nation, the Kingdom of Benin, Mali-Faso and the Kingdoms of Nigeria.
