In the 1930s Ferdinand Porsche founded a design bureau where he developed the Third Reich’s “Strength Through Joy”-car, later known as the “Volkswagen Beetle” (VW Käfer). In the 1940s his son, Ferry Porsche, turned the company from design to production and started to manufacture the legendary sports cars.
In the Sixth World Porsche is a member of the Eurocar consortium.
