Talk:Confederation of American States
From Sixth World Wiki
[edit] Name
According to the Neo Anarch Guide to North America the CAS are the Confederated American States, not Confederation of American States. --CyberDruid 03:31, 10 Oct 2004 (Eastern Daylight Time)
- The new North America book, Shadows of North America, uses the Confederation of American States. I believe this was done to be more accurate to the material presented in the book. The CAS is a federal nation, a southern copy of the UCAS, and not a real confederacy, at least not like the old CSA. Wikipedia article on confederacy mentions that federal nations such as Canada use the label "Confederation", but uses Switzerland and the EU as a modern examples of a confederacy (as well as the Confederate States of America).--YoungFreud 03:40, 10 Oct 2004 (Eastern Daylight Time)
- OK, you are right. Now I think this name is the correct one :) --CyberDruid 04:21, 10 Oct 2004 (Eastern Daylight Time)
- If that's what NAGNA called it, it's worth putting in the link. :) --msde 15:22, 11 Oct 2004 (Eastern Daylight Time)
- The name pops up in Street Samurai Catalog. I think it was the name banded around during first edition. --YoungFreud 00:44, 12 Oct 2004 (Eastern Daylight Time)
- Well, the Confederated American States name also pops up in Year of the Comet. It's actually referred to the CAS as Confederated. I'm thinking that the only book that refers to it as Confederation is Shadows of North America. I'd keep the page where it is because I have a feeling that it's going to be continued to call Confederation, but Confederated is a smaller formal version so as to fit into page count. I'm going to add the Confederated name somewhere in the opening paragraph and refer to it as an informal version of the name. --YoungFreud 01:07, 12 Oct 2004 (Eastern Daylight Time)
- I just meant the redirect page. Sorry for any confusion. --msde 14:16, 12 Oct 2004 (Eastern Daylight Time)
